NEWS - February Updates - 14.02.18
Hello all, I had originally intended to make an update video to introduce all of this information, but I've decided against it (given how terrible I am at filming and editing those things). To put things into context right now, Beautiful Dream (our new original short film) is all done. Trailer and full film are rendered and ready for release on 17th and 24th February respectively. The overall project isn't quite as strong as I had originally intended, mostly down to poor lighting in the film - which caused difficulties when trying to add Visual FX and colour grading (which ironically had to be done to make it look half-decent). I'm certainly glad I made the film, despite not being entirely happy with it, and experimenting with different kinds of short films is always interesting to me, and I hope it is to you as the audience. I have to admit that one of things I hadn't really appreciated before now is how many people actually watch my original short films, given the lack of "brand appeal". The Doctor Who fan series has the name, but FBC Productions itself isn't really a name itself, making their respective successes all the more of an achievement. Regardless of viewing figures and analytics, the short films will continue as the team and I explore different genres and styles; we're currently looking at making a found-footage short akin to Cloverfield, but that's still very much in the development faze.
As for the Doctor Who fan series, I can confirm that, yes, Doctor Who: Warriors of Seth will be released on 31st March. Today I managed to assemble a full cut of the special, which currently runs at 22 minutes long sans next time / coming soon trailer, and its all looking pretty solid. I intend to check over it before I render the full piece, and I will be releasing a "making of" video alongside the special - which is a good way through editing in itself at this moment in time. There may be another six weeks until Warriors of Seth is released, but there's still quite a bit more work to do, and I like to have these films rendered in advance to make sure there's no errors when I finally upload - which have happened in the past. I've enjoyed making Warriors of Seth much more than Forgotten Past, given that its a much more standalone and low-key episode than the last two Who's I've made. It's been quite refreshing to just make a Doctor Who story, and not a large-scale epic, so much so that I was almost happy to leave it there, but...
I can confirm that there will be another Doctor Who special after Warriors of Seth. It's been in the works since we wrapped on Warriors, but now that we're mid-way through filming on this special, I think its safe to say that it is actually a thing - and not just a half-finished script. This was the most difficult Doctor Who to get right for me, not because of filming difficulties, but because of the story itself. This third special will be my last, and will wrap-up all of the loose threads left over from Forgotten Past and Warriors of Seth, and arguably right from the start of my series - although most of it will just be thematic. While writing this episode, I wanted to craft a really strong story, and not just write "the finale" so to speak. This will be the Doctor's big battle against the Valeyard, but will also be a look at my Doctor's character, and the supporting characters in the series. I wanted to make a really strong episode to end on, and the script is possibly the most thematic I've ever written (if I do say so myself!). We've got another three days of filming left (approximately), with Day Four this Thursday, but so far I've been able to assemble the first ten to eleven minutes of the special, which is a great start given that we've only had three days of filming so far. Everyone's been working hard on this one, and I hope the end project showcases this.
I guess the obvious question is: why is this my last Who? Well, I came to the conclusion that the next story to follow-on from Warriors of Seth would have to be a finale of some kind, wrapping-up everything in a satisfying way, and realised that if there was ever a good story to end on, it would be that. I'm still enjoying making Doctor Who fan films, but I'd rather tell a good story with a beginning, middle and end than try and drag it out longer than it should be. I'd originally intended to call it quits with Shadow Over Earth, but I still felt I had stories left in me. Now, I feel that the characters' stories are over, and its time to end the series. There's a possibility that I'll be making another Who project in the future - one has been discussed and written, and we're waiting to see how that pans out at the moment - but this will be the final episode in the series, regardless of any spin-offs of prequels. I've enjoyed the ride, and its time for that ride to end. Before I get ahead of myself though, we're still a way off from the actual end - we haven't even filmed it yet! This special will probably take a little bit longer to finish than Warriors of Seth, but I'm hoping to include a little teaser at the end of that episode to build some anticipation.
And that's pretty much it for now! I hope this covers some of the relevant information about our upcoming projects, and I hope everyone looks forward to these films' release throughout the year...

NEWS - Blackout: Revised / Rebirth CANCELLED, Forgotten Past in Post-Production - 19.08.17
Due to various disagreements between some involved in the production, Blackout: Revised / Rebirth has been cancelled. We were half-way through production, meaning that the footage filmed and edited could be released at a later date. Nothing is set in stone as to when or how it will be released, but having worked on the production for so long, with so much done and with the work everyone has put into it, it would seem a shame for it to not find the light of day. Despite initial hopes, the series won't be finished, but if we can find a way to edit everything together to form a cohesive story, that version will be released.
Unless further disagreements occur, Doctor Who: Forgotten Past will be released, having finished production a month ago. One ADR line is needed, but apart from that Post-Production will take a while, meaning that its release this December will be kept. The original planned featurette may or may not be edited and released, but the documentary we were planning will not happen - although we have plenty of behind the scenes material for a potential release after the special. I can't say that the rest of Post-Production will be easy, and looking back on the film as a whole, I'm not sure what my attitude will be towards it. At the moment it seems to represent the calm before the storm, but I understand that some people involved did not enjoy making it. Forgotten Past was not, and no doubt will not be an easy project to work on, but it's so close to completion after nearly a year and a half that I am determined to see it through to the end.
As for any other projects, I'm not writing anything off. I've had an idea for a potential short, and if I can find a cast wanting to be involved, hopefully it will find its way into production. FBC Productions may not be the same as it once was, but such is life, and life moves on.

NEWS - Last Projects - 13.08.17
After much consideration, it has been decided that Forgotten Past will be the last installment in our Doctor Who fan series. While it was never originally supposed to be the series finale, recent events and decisions out of my own control have caused this to retroactively be our last. Anyone who read the latest post on the "Pete's Notes" page, or who read JJ's post on his RGB Studios page will know that Mr DeWitt has decided to end his time making films with us, and with his departure its nigh-impossible to continue the planned story of the Doctor Who series, not to mention that everyone else's involvement is so up-in-the-air that its more than likely the group will be disbanded completely. Certain agreements have yet to be made between all parties, but for now it seems as though this is the end. That being said, I fully intend to release Forgotten Past in December as planned, and will not be editing or changing the ending to better suit its role as a series finale. While some may find it unsatisfying as our last installment, it is not impossible that a sequel is made at some point in the future that will wrap up any and all loose ends, and if that seemingly unlikely event happens, it would be best to have the door open in the first place. But, for now I'd like to thank everyone who's supported FBC Productions over its 11 year run, and Blackout: Revised / Rebirth should hopefully be a good end for year 12. ~ Pete

NEWS - October Update from Pete - 25.10.16
Crikey! Have I really not posted any news on this website since the beginning of September? Huh. Well, time...sort of flies, I guess.
So the last proper FBC project I worked on was Blackout - a co-production with RGB Studios - which came out nearly exactly two months ago, and since then I haven't really said what's coming next. I've written in the above schedule that there's an untitled short film possibly coming this year and, well, if I'm honest I've not really done much on it in a while. That's probably going on the pile with The Reaper as potential future projects I can't really do anything with at the moment, which I hate. Honestly, I hate not making films and it would seem like I'm not making anything at the moment, which isn't strictly true. UNIT Files: Season Two is still a thing, currently well into production with no clear end date. The full season will be making its way onto Joe Sheehan's YouTube channel sometime next year, with five or six episodes finishing off the sort-of saga Joe pretty much stopped wanting to do back in March 2014. Anyway, it's coming back for a second and final run with a bigger scale and more cast members, meaning that it isn't just me and Joe nattering to one another for eight episodes. So far it's looking really good, and almost worth the drama we've had to endure. Seriously, there are going to be some stories to tell from the making of this series!
But once that's all over - or on the side if things get really rough - what am I going to be doing? Well, I was working on an as-of-yet untitled Doctor Who special (the title of which I do have, just not confirming), but here's the problem: I can't seem to successfully cast it. Everyone bar the main lead is cast and rearing to go, the script is finished and I'm all up for it, but our lead can't seem to get someone to play them. I've had three yesses in a row which have then turned to either "no, I'm afraid I'm not sure about this" or "I'm afraid I can't find the time". So, put simply, I can't make it. There's no point in filming everyone else's scenes if we can't get our lead so I've got no alternate but to drop the special entirely. I've been promising this for a while, and gave myself plenty of time to make it (time I might add that we still have) but I just can't go anywhere with it. I have been working on a back-up script but its one that requires much more work in terms of filming and requires pretty much the entire cast of UNIT Files: Season Two, and, as you can imagine, they're a little busy at present.
In a nutshell though: UNIT Files: Season Two should be making its way onto computer screens at the beginning of next year (I've been working on-and-off on a second trailer), and I'm hoping to get a Doctor Who episode done soon after, but so far that's looking unlikely. Thanks for reading this little update and I'm sorry its been so negative. I hate to be the bearer of bad news and I couldn't just not say anything.
~ Pete

UPDATE - Interrogation, Blackout, U.N.I.T Files and more... - 31.05.16
"Hullo there!
I suppose if you're reading this then you'll be interested in finding out what's happening here at FBC Productions HQ at the moment. Well, I should say that we're currently in post-production on a brand-new short film titled Interrogation. I don't want to say too much about it for now, but its safe to say that while its our least ambitious project for a while in terms of scale, it is very different to what we usually do, and certainly isn't something we would have approached a year ago. Hopefully a teaser trailer of some kind will be with you all in the next month or so, followed closely by the short itself.
As I write this, tomorrow we shall be working with RGB Studios on Blackout, a short film written by Harry P Green and directed by myself that is also a pilot to a potential original series. If all goes well and me and Harry are happy with the project, you may get to see more Blackout quite soon. If not, what we've got so far is a pretty good short film for you all to enjoy, and possibly ponder the potential it had as a series.
I should also note that I'm working again with Mr Joe Sheehan on a long-awaited second season of U.N.I.T Files - an original series we started in 2014 and pretty much left alone after the season one finale in May 2015 (now just over a year ago!). Now we are planning to get cracking on an eight episode second season with episodes written by me, Joe and Harry that should start streaming on Tescelector 2012 either late this year or early next year.
And then we have Doctor Who. What are we doing with Doctor Who? Well, I can say that a script has been written, and another is in writing, but there is little more to say than that we are working on it...just very slowly.
So there! That's all our up and coming projects. For now though, thank you for reading, please support us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and I'll keep you all posted."

NEWS - Goldenjoe begins production! - 29.10.15
Saturday 24th October 2015 proved to be a very disappointing day for us at FBC Productions. We were set to begin production on a new episode of Doctor Who, but alas we had a major problem and thus couldn't film.
What we did decide to film though was Goldenjoe - our upcoming James Bond/action movie parody short film starring Joe Sheehan, Harry P Green and Pete Messum. The short film is set to continue filming soon and if all goes well, we may even be able to release the finished film next week! If we don't though, there shall be something Goldenjoe-related coming your way on November 6th.
Basically kids, the moral of the story is stop trusting people after they disappoint you on the same things four (now five) times!
